FDI in Costa Rica’s Real Estate Market Reaches $1.6 Billion

Foreign Direct Investment in the Costa Rica real estate market reached record highs in 2013. Accounting for $1.6 billion, investment in Costa Rica real estate comprised a total of 43% of the total foreign direct investment received by Costa Rica last year.

According to CINDE and as quoted by Nacion.com, major credit for the increase in foreign investment in Costa Rica real estate can be attributed to properties along the Pacific Coast, specifically in Guanacaste. “The acquisition of properties in coastal areas of Guanacaste and Puntarenas explain the rise,” reported Nacion.com.

Foreign Investors Take Advantage of Increasing Opportunities in the Costa Rica Real Estate Market

According to Nacion, as the United States continues to be the major foreign investor in Costa Rica real estate, other Latin American countries such as Panama, Nicaragua and Colombia are now investing heavily in Costa Rica’s property market.
New real estate developments in Guanacaste and Costa Rica’s southern zone are readily underway for 2014 as foreign investors flock to Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. Areas that were previously inaccessible are now booming with real estate activity thanks to recent infrastructure improvements and increased ease of travel. Targeting these once undeveloped zones of the Costa Rica real estate market gives international developers and investors ample opportunity as they continue to comprise a large majority of Costa Rica’s FDI.

Baker— author of Moon Costa Rica— shares the top ten best beaches in Costa Rica by region, from the Caribbean to the Central Pacific.

It’s Easy to Enjoy Pura Vida with Costa Rica Real Estate on the Beautiful Beaches of Costa Rica

THE CARIBBEAN:
Tortuguero: This silvery beach backed by lush rainforest is the most important green turtle nesting site in the Caribbean.
Playa Blanca, Parque Nacional Cahuita: With several beautiful golden-sand beaches broken by rocky headlands, Cahuita is a great place to sunbathe or snorkel amid the offshore coral reef.

THE NICOYA PENINSULA:

Playa Conchal: This sometimes crowded beach of tiny seashells changes from bleached white to gray, depending on tidal and weather conditions. The calm turquoise waters host a beautiful coral reef.
Playa Flamingo: Perhaps the most splendid white-sand beach in the nation, this gently curving scimitar is cusped by rugged headlands.
Playa Santa Teresa: Rugged headlands and isles, tropical forest, and fearsome surf make this one of the nation’s most dramatic beaches.
Playa Naranjo: Surrounded on two sides by swampy estuaries, this golden-sand beach provides access to Parque Nacional Santa Rosa. See big cats, crocodiles, tamanduas, and scarlet macaws.

GOLFO DULCE AND THE OSA PENINSULA:

Playa Platanares: East of Puerto Jiménez, Platanares abuts both rainforest and mangrove, is an important nesting site for marine turtles, and offers whale and dolphin viewing.

Playa Zancudo: Washed by surf and littered with tree trunks, this beach has stupendous views across the Golfo Dulce.

THE CENTRAL PACIFIC:

Playa Manuel Antonio: Curling around a sheltered bay like a shepherd’s crook, this beach has it all: calm turquoise waters, rocky headlands, rainforest, and views toward distant mountains.
Playas Esterillos: Palm-fringed with gray sands, four beaches in one run along some 12 miles of shoreline.
To view even more exquisite Costa Rica real estate along these beautiful beaches, please visit Palms International Costa Rica.
